Felt Die
Friday, November 16, 10:43 AM By
Shelly
Here's
a little felt die I whipped up for Bryan, it does roll, but I can't
guarantee it's accuracy. I forgot to put something next to it for
reference, but the pips are seed beads, if that helps you with the
size, and if not, each side square is 1".

There's plenty more cool paper creature designs at Readymech. And I'm sure you can put them together better than me.

Funky Zombie Mask. It's supposed to look 'normal' on the one side, but the kids said it was scary on both sides.

See Shell's Cross Posts

Most of the time, when my Thing is
something artsy &/or crafty, I also post something about it on
my other blog, See Shell's
Schemes. My
template designer also made me this awesome button, thanks
again, Zoe!

So I have added this button to the sidebar, and gone back through all the posts here, and added this button as a link to those posts that are crafty. I also added one of three phrases with links to specific posts:
Cross Post -- this just means that I've also made the same post on the other blog
More on this Thing -- this means there is more to the story, and you can get the in-depth story
See shell's two cents -- I'll use this when I'm writing about something that Bryan made
There will often be more pictures on the other blog, and usually more photos on flickr, when you click on any photo.

Cell Phone Holder

Now that I have my own pene del diablo (for emergency
use only!), I decided it needed it's own case. After all, it will
mostly just be in my purse.

I used denim and felt, and I seriously had to hold back from beading it, but since there may be times that Bryan will carry it instead of driving around for two hours trying to buy prepaid long distance phone cards, I didn't want it to be too girly. (You're welcome, Honey.)

Crafty Family

With lots of family members around
this week, I took a moment to look around at Grandma's where we
were usually congregated, and was reminded of what a crafty family
I come from. I took some photos of crafty gifts that Grandma has
received over the years, and threw them together with some other
crafty photos from my youth and childhood, and made a new flickr
set. Check it out here.

National Bomb Pop Day
Thursday, June 28, 10:34 PM By
Shelly
Thanks to loyal TTOTD reader Cassie, I
learned that today is National Bomb Pop Day!
I found several cool things to do and make on their site, an adventure game, an awesome mobile, and a memory game, all that that you can download and put together and play or hang. And, this glider, which I printed in black and white so I could color it myself. Don't you think a purple, pink, and green bomb pop would taste great?

Googly Eyes
Monday, June 04, 07:39 PM By
Shelly

I bought a package of Googly Eyes, and I had to have a cool place to keep them! So I collaged the lid, and glitter glued some eyes around, too!

P.S. I uploaded a new picture for the Felted Flower with Beaded Blanket stitch. The other picture did not have a frame of reference so you could see how small it really is, and that old background was too busy for my eyes!
Team Project for Holiday!
Monday, May 28, 08:31 PM By
Team
(Shelly here): We
decided to do a Team Thing, since today was a bonus day, me having
the day off (Bryan always has Monday's off--must be nice!) So I
looked through the archives at MAKE to find something we
could do together.
What we decided on was some paper crafts Make featured brought to you by Cannon. Check out all their free paper crafts to download, print and put together, there are tons of cool ones, and they are free!!
We decided to do some from their craftown series, because they might be able to work into or become a game.
Here's our police station, convenience store, and people to go with. It was fun to do a project together!

(Shelly did the super hard police station and police car; Bryan did the easier convenience store and some people.)

(Bryan here): As you can see from this scene, the employees and manager have decided to take a day off from menial labor and pay tribute to their favorite movie, Clerks. After about a half hour of some of the most righteous roof hockey you'll ever see, the Fuzz show up on a noise complaint. But it's cool. Lady cop buys her weed from Raoul, the night clerk who's also her booty call on the overnight. But Lady Cop doesn't know Raoul is also tapping her best friend, Amy. Not that she'd care much, she just knows where Amy's been. Oh, and Sampson, the manager, has the largest collection of inappropriately edited video of customer hijinks from the surveillance camera. He'll show it to you if you ask.
And that's just a few of the stories in the torrid history of the Craftown Convenience Store. Sorry no Jay and Silent Bob, they're a just an urban legend.

Felted Flower

With beaded blanket stitch. Flower is about 1" x 1 1/2" and puffy. I see several felted flowers or other such fluffies in the future. Not sure yet exactly what they're going to turn into just yet.
Updated 6/4/7: New picture with better background, and size reference.

April Buttons
Monday, April 30, 06:52 AM By
Shelly

Here's a set of ten small buttons, made from a button kit. Some drawn, some made from magazine pictures. All sporting our web address.
And by the way, today's the last day of April, and every comment left in April will be put into a random drawing, so today is the last day to get entered into the contest.
Hmmm, can you guess what the prize might be?
